The duties and functions of governors are defined in the instrument and articles of government for schools. It is the instrument of government which sets out the composition and rules of procedure of governing bodies and the articles of government which, in broad terms, define the powers and duties of these bodies.
The composition of the Governing Body of this school is as follows:
(a) three representatives of the Local Authority
(b) three teaching staff governors
(c) three parent governors
(d) three community governors who represent community interests
(e) one sponsor governor who is able to give substantial assistance to the school
(f) one associate member who contributes specifically on matters relating to their area of expertise

The full Governing Body normally meets once each term. Sub Committees and Working Parties of the Governing Body meet at regular intervals as necessary.
There are currently two Sub Committees – Finance, Staffing & Buildings and Curriculum.
